The Jews arrived in the town in 1742, after the long Babylonian exile that scattered Jews throughout Persia. Initially, there were around 20,000 Jews in the town, with 14 synagogues serving the community. Today, only three synagogues remain, with one of them currently being converted into a Jewish museum. These rocks were accidentally discovered in the 1930s, and the paintings on them raised the possibility of a possible connection between the ancient Azers and the Scandinavians. We will visit the volcanic mountains and the giant market.
